two poems by Audrey Zee Whitesides

Real Evil

Don’t speak evil or don't brush me

woofing as an administrator

I mean a bad cop

running my mom all over town

for him an x-acto knife

a bottle of Tylenol margarita

That’s the kind of poet you are

sitting on me by night ratting my dress-ends

That’s the kind of poet you are

and the kind that you are

phases rights on the wind

You target my mom

and she is not even a poet

Don’t read evil

Don’t go reading evil

I got told to read it like it was my friend

My target jetties out of cellphone battery

and milks out of emotion

I can do a emoticon snafu like you

I can even target dicks

But I can read evil

and don’t read evil

Not even a hair of a speck

glowing in on a birthright

read it in this posh modern furniture

Rearrange your down couch & comeback

Corpse of evil is still feeding poet evil

Future Live (&&&&&&&& the subject lives in history)

In this archive, or house of the law

drawers & drawers of aftercare & pneumatically sealed bottles of distress

It’s ok to be a little cruel to me but I hate surprises

Artbook & forum dive, preservation windows on a porn site

a decaying body on a mattress, de-scarved

Discovering all the vampires was a strange system

of the thinness of my play

screenshot folder ruined by just one girl

In the conspiracy we found ourselves we felt abandoned, pseudonym

with an intense clarity of purpose

The debriefing occurred in three separate rooms:

1. I dream her romance cured in salt & cold iron, daily treats

2. We discuss the monster composition recording a month of fever

& I was ready to confess to anything to keep you from being mad at me,

or leaving me with no words
